Alexander McQueen's last collection: A treat for the Art Historian

Brocade, gold, velvet...these were the lush materials of McQueen's medieval-inspired looks for Fall 2010. Sweeping shoulder sleeves and high neck collars completed the hand-draped pieces of the late designer's last 16 runway pieces. Romantic, timeless, and evocative, this collection fit perfectly amidst the show's location at the offices of François Pinault in Paris, where gilded rooms and large mirrors recollect the interiors of European palaces.
My only questions is, what is going on with the head pieces?

Take a look. Remind you of anything???
