To Do: This weekend in the Chi…

Friday:

Pump Room, at Public Hotel Chicago: revamped and reopened by Ian Schrager, the Pump Room Restaurant makes a come back from its old-Hollywood-like notoriety into the Chicago hotel scene. From restaurant at day, to a supper club at night, Pump Room “recaptures the glamour of the 30's and 40's with a modern twist” (www.publichotels.com), and hosts swanky parties for glitzy Chicago socialites since its reopening in September.

Check it out at: Public Hotel, 1301 North State Parkway, Chicago, IL 60610

Saturday:

Randolph Street Market is running its annual Modern Vintage Chicago event, taking place all weekend…a.k.a. another reason not to wear fake Chanel people!

When: Saturday & Sunday, 10am-5pm

Tickets: $8 discount online General Admission or $10 at the gate.

Every paid admission gets a $5 or $10 Shopping Voucher good toward

purchases.(Groupon might still have the deal for $4 tix!)

Charles James: Genius Deconstructed:

Special Exhibit at the Chicago History Museum

Why go see it: love Alexander McQueen? See his inspiration and the most likely predecessor to his creative genius. One of the few American couturiers, Charles James is a solid case for early American chic.

N & L Other Weekend Picks:

Magnolia Bakery…the New York City phenomenon comes to Chi-town with all of its cupcake glory.

Where: 108 N. State Street at Block 37

Why: check out Magnolia for the sake of comparison. Yelp reviews are mixed and some say our very own Chi-town cupcake hot spots are MUCH better. See for yourself and let us know.

P.S. MORE CUPCAKES IS THE BEST!!!!
