An Aficionado of...an elegantly dressed man.

Someone recently (and correctly) pointed out that I do not pay enough homage to men's fashion on wearandwhy. In truth, I don't pay enough homage to my enthusiasm for effortless taste and ageless style...let alone consider a daily possibility to bring a male voice into the writing. In taking advantage of a break, however, I offer you a short list of my favorite men's shopping destinations. Judge where appropriate.

apartment number 9
1804 N. Damen

Designer mainstream + classics combined in this Bucktown retreat. Clean, sophisticated cool...for the sharp young gentleman who doesn't mind a Theory blazer.

space519
900 North Michigan Shops

This unexpected and eclectic gem offers urban cool everything- despite the store's bland location at the 900 n. michigan shops. Boutique offers an amazing collection of periodicals, desk accessories, refurbished vintage watches, and everything a Chicagoan wants in his apartment. Showroom frequently changes based on 'motif'.

Haberdash
607 N. State/1350 N. Wells

A highly sophisticated collection of men's apparel, accessories, and sportswear, curated by two very successful gentlemen who strive to bring authentic, heritage, and hard-to-find brands for the style conscious Chicago man. Taste is everything.

GiltMAN
gilt.com
Gilt has already won the attention of the budget conscious and designer-loving trendspotters...but their 'Man' chapter is even a pleasure for the ladies. Check out their list of essentials-the GiltMANual.

The Art of Shaving
Michigan Ave. North Bridge Shops

Luxe shaving products, utensils, and accessories styled with old-fashioned taste and upgraded technology...worth the money. Trust me.

Burberry
633 N. Michigan
Who doesn't love a man in a skinny tie, tailored button-down, and fitted trench?
