The Thompson Hotel

Remember that old place, Whiskey Grill ? And that Sutton Hotel construction on the corner of Rush and Bellevue that seemed to never end? Yep, I forgot about them too...but in their replacement something unforgettable has just arrived. A Thompson Hotel, the new posh establishment everyone is buzzing about has finally unveiled to the public, set to officially open in December.

Much like her sister counterparts across the country, the Thompson boasts innovative decor, exceptional customer service, and an award-winning Chicago chef/co-partner, Paul Kahan (think Blackbird, Publican, PQM, and Big Star). At the Thompson, Kahan will be the Executive Chef for Nico Osteria, the main dining facility in her 25,000 square foot space. Or should I say, his space

After taking a tour of the Thompson and its lush facilities, lead by a wonderful member of its staff, its hard not to say that the hotel is anything but masculine. Think 1950's Mad Men glamour...with all the cigars, Eames tables and sofas, and everything oh so neutral! The incredible loft suites boast dining room tables that swap into billiards, retro wall prints and unique lighting choices, and grey, grey, and more grey. Every room comes with a view, and every suite is accompanied by an outdoor terrace...taking people watching in the Gold Coast to a whole new level, literally.

There's nothing not love about the Thompson...and when Nico opens and crowds flood in, its shore to beat out her competition.
